Free Songwriting Worksheets on the Web

A few good worksheets can save you time when you’re writing. They can spur your imagination, help you consolidate your possible rhymes, and lead you to create a song outline you never imagined.
There are a number of free songwriting worksheets available on the web, and at SongChops we’ve developed a few free songwriting worksheets of our own.

- Effective Rhymes (Pat Pattison – Berklee) – gives an overview of types of rhymes and exercises for finding rhymes- a great second step to the link above
- Melody Basics (Jack Perricone – Berklee) – overview of melody structure and how to approach for a song, particularly page 3 – how to write for the voice (range and things to keep in mind)
- Lyrical Elements (Pat Pattison – Berklee) – overview of phrases and how they work in a lyric
- BerkleeShares.com has a great collection of songwriting and arranging PDFs available if you have some time.
